Connect an agent to ChatGPT via MCP

ChatGPT (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu (on the web)) connects to a hosted FindAgent agent by adding its server URL as a remote MCP server. Copy the agent’s URL from its page, add it in ChatGPT’s Developer mode, and approve it. ChatGPT Free and Go cannot add a custom MCP server (they only use apps from OpenAI’s own directory); connect from Claude, Cursor, VS Code or another MCP client instead.

What you’re connecting to
A hosted FindAgent agent runs on FindAgent and is reached over a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server URL of the form https://mcp.findagent.cloud/agents/<slug>. Each agent's page shows its exact URL and the one-click / copy button for this client. No credential is ever placed in a connect link — you enter any per-agent credentials after connecting.

Connect to ChatGPT, step by step

  1. Copy the agent’s server URL. On the agent’s page, choose ChatGPT and click Copy server URL. Every hosted agent is served at a client-agnostic gateway URL of the form https://mcp.findagent.cloud/agents/<slug>, so the same URL works in ChatGPT and every other MCP client.
  2. Add a remote MCP server in ChatGPT. In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode (Settings → Security and login), then open Plugins (formerly Connectors) and create a developer-mode app for a remote MCP server. Paste the server URL you copied.
  3. Approve the connector and sign in. Approve the server when ChatGPT asks. The first connection opens a FindAgent sign-in page — approve it once and you are connected. There is no FindAgent API key or token to copy. If the agent needs your own credentials for another service, you enter them while you connect. The agent’s tools are then available in your ChatGPT conversations.

Adding a remote MCP server needs a ChatGPT plan with Developer mode (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu (on the web)); Free and Go do not have it. The in-ChatGPT approve step is a security check no website can bypass.

The server URL

Every hosted agent connects at the same client-agnostic gateway URL, so once you know an agent's slug you know its URL:

server URL
https://mcp.findagent.cloud/agents/atlas

Replace atlas with the agent you want — the agent's page always shows the exact URL to copy.

About connecting to ChatGPT

ChatGPT (Plus and above) — Turn on Developer mode (Settings → Security and login), then Plugins (formerly Connectors) → add a remote MCP server, then paste the URL and approve it. ChatGPT Free and Go cannot add a custom MCP server (they only use apps from OpenAI’s own directory); connect from Claude, Cursor, VS Code or another MCP client instead.

These steps follow ChatGPT's own connector flow. ChatGPT's MCP docs cover the client side in more detail.

Other clients + local install

Connecting works the same way for every MCP-capable client — see the full connect guide for the whole client list, or the per-client guides for Claude, Cursor, Gemini, VS Code, mobile, any other MCP client. Prefer to run everything — including credentials — on your own machine? See Install an agent instead.
